Drone Emoji is the vaporwave-inspired music project of an anonymous Ljubljana-based producer. His 2018 debut EP เป็นฟอนต์ที่ได้ was included on many best-of-the-year lists, including being named album of the year by Radio Študent, one of Europe’s oldest independent radio institutions. With his postmodern approach to music as internet meme, Drone Emoji samples, cites, appropriates, and remixes unlikely source material into a refreshing breath of absurdity, mashing up a mind-boggling selection of anything-goes bangers and obscure quotes into previously unheard contexts.
